John Hoffman, of Marlton, most recently served as Director of the Division of Investigations for the State Comptroller’s Office. Prior to 2010, Hoffman served six years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, focusing upon economic and white collar criminal prosecutions. From 1996 until 2004, he served as Trial Attorney for Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He also served in private practice for a Washington, D.C., law firm.
“John Hoffman will be a tremendous asset as Executive Assistant Attorney General, thanks to his outstanding legal acumen and the wealth of knowledge and experience he gained as a high-level prosecutor and trial attorney,” said Attorney General Chiesa. “I will rely on his leadership and good counsel.”
Hoffman received his undergraduate degree in 1987 from Colgate University and his law degree in 1992 from Duke University School of Law.
While at the State Comptroller’s Office, Hoffman managed an office of 15 attorneys and investigators responsible for investigating and reporting upon issues of fraud, abuse, waste and corruption within state and municipal government, resulting in issuance of multiple reports and guidance letters.
