Biography

John A. Pérez (born September 28, 1969) is a union organizer and politician from Los Angeles, California, who has been the Speaker of the California State Assembly since March 1, 2010. A Democrat, he represents the 53rd district in the California State Assembly. Pérez was subsequently reelected in 2010 and 2012, making him one of the longest serving Speakers in the era of term limits.
