Biography

Margaret “Maggie” Hassan (née Wood; born February 27, 1958) is an American politician who currently serves as the 81st Governor of New Hampshire.[1] Hassan, a member of the Democratic Party, represented the 23rd District in the New Hampshire State Senate from 2005 to 2010. During her tenure, she served as assistant Democratic whip, president pro tempore, and majority leader.[2][3][4] In 2012, she was elected as Governor, becoming the second woman to be elected to the office, after fellow Democrat Jeanne Shaheen.
